Black women were hardly, if at all, portrayed in pop culture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-small preFade fadeIn\">The exclusion of BIPOC communities in the \u201cAmerican Dream\u201d born of this era can be clearly seen in the media produced at the time. Magazines were a major contributor to this narrative, especially as the concept of the \u201cNuclear Family\u201d spread and women were portrayed as housekeepers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-small preFade fadeIn\">From the lens of 1950s Vogue Covers, we depict a rewritten history that is inclusive and inspiring.
